Big Brothers Big Sisters of America

You’ve probably heard of Big Brothers Big Sisters before, as it is one of the longest-running and comprehensive mentorship programs in the country. BBBS matches at-risk children between the ages of six and 18 with a mentor whose influence helps them avoid engaging in risky behaviors. Part of the reason BBBS is so successful is because they carefully match each child with a caring mentor, ensuring that the two are compatible and able to build a life-long bond.

It can be easy to take our educational opportunities for granted, but for children growing up in disadvantaged environments, performance in the classroom can be of little concern. We choose to give to Big Brothers Big Sisters because their one-to-one mentoring program gives children the support they need to keep their own education in sight and, in doing so, improves the lives and futures of both mentors and children around the country.
